Rootstock’s monthly community gathering!

A day to slow down, connect, and practice being human together.

On the first Saturday of each month, Beana will open the hill from 10am-4pm to friends, families, neighbors, elders, children, clients, seekers, finders, and curious newcomers for a restful day of connection, nourishment, play, conversation, and community.

Whether you stay for an hour or the whole day, Togethering: The Gathering is an invitation to prioritize slowing down, coming together, and simply being.

Togethering is not a retreat.
It is not something for you to come and have.
This is a people powered gathering that we will create together.

It’s simple:

  • From 10am-12pm we’ll work and play.  You might find yourself helping fire the sauna, laying out the table for the potluck, turning the Belly into a cozy lounge for the day, or shoveling out a sweet sledding run.
  • From 12pm-2pm we’ll potluck & siesta.  We’ll eat, we’ll talk, we’ll lounge, we’ll rest, and the bathhouse will be open (assuming we have people power to help open & close it).
  • From 2pm-4pm we’ll connect.  Whether it’s a circle & talking stick or some other creative expression of meaning making, we’ll end the day with some space to listen to each other, share ourselves, and allow our relationships to deepen.

Some days you may feel called to help hold the gathering a lot and other days you may just need a long conversation on the porch, a secret nap in the loft, a quiet walk to the Dragon, or a long soak in the bathhouse. Meanwhile, children play, meals come together, dishes get done, conversations unfold, and we learn how to be ourselves together.

The point isn’t what we do. The point is that we do it together.

How to Participate

  • Sign up so we know you’re coming
  • Bring a dish to share. Let’s feed each other well.
  • Contribute toward community expenses like wood and propane if you’re able.
  • Look for ways to help.
  • Rest when you need to rest.
  • Introduce yourself to someone new.
  • Share your gifts.

Giving and receiving should flow in both directions for everyone who participates, not necessarily every time, but over the course of a season, a year, and a life together. Togethering is a place to practice both.

Together, we’ll create a culture of care, self-responsibility, generosity, and patience with ourselves and each another. A place where the gifts, wisdom, and uniqueness of each of us, and the kiddos we love, have a safe place to grow and flourish.
