Sunset Suite (Private Room)
The Sunset Suite is a queen sized room up a short, steep staircase in Rootstocks community cabin, also known as the Big House. Decked with lots of memorabilia from Beana’s life, this cozy womb of a room can be booked privately for your stay here.
PLEASE NOTE! Guests staying in the Big House that are not participating in a event should plan to depart the building or premises for the duration of the gathering making sure to stow or take their personal belongings to ensure space for the participants.
The space
Every aspect of this cozy, eclectic cabin has been designed for comfort, joy, and beauty. The open-plan living area includes a wide assortment of comfy spots for lounging, as well as a dining table and well equipped kitchen (with truly delicious well water!). At the heart of the cabin is a wood stove that keeps the space luxuriously toasty on even the coldest of days, and wood and kindling will be provided. In warmer weather, enjoy the screened in porch complete with comfy couches for lounging and beautiful views of the Northeast Kingdom.
If you’re seeking inspiration, you’ll love the assortment of books, crystals, oracle and tarot cards, and musical instruments that line the walls of this magical space, not to mention a pretty fun stash of games to play and a well-curated vinyl collection to really make your time here special.
Your bedroom is located up the stairs to the left. It faces to the West and is furnished with a full size bed, bedside table, and desk. Guests are required to bring their own bedding and towels.
Please note that the bedroom is located on the upper level and must be accessed by a short, steep set of stairs. The bathroom is located on the primary living level, so accessing it during the night will require navigating a steep staircase.
A cat named Horus is the Baby King of the hill and takes his rest and meals in the cabin. He may or may not visit you during your stay. As such, we cannot permit any other pets on the premises so thanks for leaving your fur babies at home.
A two-person wood-fired cedar hot tub is just outside the cabin door and can be made left ready for guests to fire and enjoy for a surcharge of $88/night. (subject to availability)
Please note that this reservation is booking a single room in a house. Though you’ll enjoy access to the common spaces, please take care to keep your belongings in your own space and be advised that other people, meals, and use of the space can overlap with your stay. Quiet hours when staying in the cabin with other individuals loosely go from 8pm to 8am.
4WD/AWD vehicles with good snow tires are the surest way to enjoy winter stays (December – April) as the hills are steep here and the snow can be wild. You should be prepared for limited or no cell and GPS service in this area. While the cabin has wifi, please understand that this is rural internet and may be slower and less reliable than you are accustomed to.
Guest access
You’re welcome to make yourself fully at home in the guestroom and to enjoy the shared living spaces in the cabin. We invite you to explore Rootstock’s trails and outdoor areas but request that you not enter any other buildings or spaces without an explicit invitation as we may have other guests here at the same time as you.
