Community Work & Play Day
December 7, 2025
First Sunday of every month • RSVP requested • All are welcome
Join us for a morning of tending, mending, and grounding in the rhythm of shared work at Rootstock. Community Work & Play Day is a monthly invitation to gather in service and joy, roll up our sleeves, care for the land, and deepen our connection to this place and one another. Many hands have built this beautiful temple, and many hands are needed to continue stewarding it with love and intention.
Arrival & Flow
- Potluck breakfast from 8-9:30am
- Work project from 9:45-12:00pm
Each month we gather around a seasonal project — stacking wood, preparing gardens, shoveling snow, refreshing shared spaces, or whatever the land calls for. Kids are welcome and all skills and capacities are welcome and invited but thank you for leaving your four-legged at home. Rootstock is a dog-free campus.
This is less about getting things done and more about practicing how we care for what sustains us. After a couple hours of working together, Rootstock feels more tended, and we do too — nourished by the rhythm of shared effort, connection, and joy. Every offering of energy matters: strong backs, steady hands, cheerful hearts, or simply a willingness to show up and participate in community.
What to Bring
-
A water bottle and weather-appropriate layers (we gather rain, snow, or shine)
-
Work gloves if you have them
-
Optional offerings for the Community Cabin — tea, chocolate, or beeswax candles
-
Simple snacks or finger foods to enjoy or share (no heating or utensils, please)
Rootstock’s Moon Circle for women happens the night before Community Day and, if want to *join the circle* and spend the night, that’s an option!
We’d love for you to arrive on time so that we can enjoy proper introductions and an orientation to the project we’ll be doing together but, life happens, and you’re welcome to show up for any part of this gathering. We’ll aim to wrap up around noon time but are open to projects taking more or less time as needed.
Donations made to the Rootstock Medicine Fund support the land and its steward as well as support access to the healing work that happens here. You will receive a confirmation email with details on when to arrive, where to park, and where to meet.
