7th Annual 100 Hour Transformation Fire- Sacred Simplicity
Flexible Dates
The 100 Hour Fire is a tradition here at Rootstock. Every autumn from Oct 28 – Nov 1, we keep a fire a burning. We do it for the Dragon, for the hill, for the fae, for the friends. We do it for ourselves and for each other and, after 6 years (and 600 sacred hours) it’s time to gather agin for lucky number 7.
This is a devotional offering and co-created ceremony and it always reflects the beings that choose to come and participate.
When is the last time that you kept a fire burning for 100 hours? When is the last time that you allowed yourself 5 days of reflection and integration on the growing season before the snow fell on it? When was the last time that you prioritized feeding the holy in nature over your own hunger and desires? It’s rare in this day and age and it’s one of the reasons why this fire is essential and prioritized.
Here’s the jist of how the days may flow, though, please know that something as organic and dynamic as a 5 day co-created ceremony is bound to surprise us:

The spaces labeled with Rest/Service/Play are the windows of time where you can pop up a yoga offering, help make medicine from the Rootstock gardens, read some tarot cards for folks, play your guitar for the volunteers at the hearth, teach a class, clean a hot tub, braid some hair, split some wood, cut some ski trails…you get the idea. A chalkboard will lay out the work-service projects and folks on the land can ‘pop up’ their offerings so folks know.
A joint Moon and Sun Circle is planned for 10/30 – the night that the men of the Sun Circle are set to take the fire – and we’re looking forward to potluck pizza party to kick off that night together. We’ll have dough, sauce, cheese, and a hot Cosmic Egg and you’ll bring the toppings! We’ll celebrate a year of creating and sustaining conscious community and sow seeds for the new year.
Of course, Eyal and Jodi will be here for the Samhain ceremony on Oct 31 but, aside from them, this year’s fire will be made by YOU if you come. You will bring your drum or your guitar or your playlist for dancing. You will bring your ritual or your meditation or some items to build an altar. You will bring your game or your poem or your paints and paper to share and YOU (and I and we…) will share our love with the fire and be better for it.
Our dinner traditions are in tact: 10/28 Walter Sobchak Transformation Turkey Dinner by Jessica, 10/29 Wood-Fired Kitchari with Pasta Mel, 10/30Wood-fired pizza at the Cosmic Egg with Beana, and 10/31 will be Samhain Ancestor Potluck Feast. We’ll make an offerenda at Grandma Maple for the ancestors too!
Guests should plan to bring pantry staples (coffee, cream, maple, chocolate, winter squash, tea, beeswax candles, etc) as well as snacks to share. Guests should also come prepared with a camp chair or pillow, blanket or layers to stay warm, and an open mind and generous heart. We will all work together to make the meaning we seek.
Upon registration, you’ll be invited to sign up for some volunteer shifts with Co-Creation Crew. Some of those shifts you can nab ahead of time and others will be organically filled when you’re on site.
A chalkboard will reveal the days offerings in more granular detail and there will be a list of work-service projects also available for folks wanting to help button up the Imagination Farm for winter.
Folks booking any day are welcome to be on the land from sunrise to 10pm. If you want to stay later, book a bunk and hunker.
This fire is a miracle and it might just be keeping life alive.
Come feed it.
